A fleece diaper cover is a soft, breathable cloth diaper cover. Fleece diaper covers come in two basic styles. Cloth diaper wraps fasten with snaps or Velcro -like tabs. Pull on fleece diaper covers are more like little shorts that pull on over a fitted diaper or a fastened prefold cloth diaper or flat diapers.
Fleece diaper covers are usually made from a soft polyester fleece. Although they are breathable, they are moisture resistant. Since polyester does not absorb, it will repel moisture, making it perfect for cloth diapers. They are not waterproof, but that is what makes them so breathable. Just like a wool diaper cover, a fleece diaper cover is only as good as the diaper underneath. Unlike PUL (polyurethane laminate, a popular diaper cover material), fleece holds in moisture but will start to feel damp if the diaper itself is saturated.

Their fleece is available in several thicknesses, with WindPro, WindBlock and 200 weight fleece being the most commonly used for diaper covers. These types of fleece are very water resistant and still very soft. They are also used to make fleece pocket diapers for overnight use. Some fleece is made from recycled water or soda bottles, making these a very earth-friendly option.
Cloth diaper wraps or covers made from fleeece are comfortable for your baby and allow their skin to breathe. This is good news for babies prone to diaper rash, as the best solution for diaper rash is frequent diaper changes and lots of fresh air.
Fleece diaper covers are also popular with vegetarians as an alternative to wool diaper covers. Since they are made from a synthetic material, some feel that it is more animal-friendly to use fleece instead of wool. Others prefer wool since it is biodegradable and made from a renewable resource (also, sheep have to have their wool sheared for their own comfort, so wool is a necessary product as well). Fleece diaper covers are also machine-washable, making them easy to care for. If you choose to line dry your fleece covers, they will look newer longer and they dry very quickly.
